What Katie's done

This day is going to go down as one of those weddings that everyone will say “remember Katherine and James wedding when X happened”. Such a priviledge to shoot Katherine and James’ wedding in the pretty town of Rye, Sussex. It proved a great snapshot into their lives, with very loyal friends travelling from all over the place to be there for their day, beautiful drinks on the beach and one very funny best man’s speech.

Magnify is an organisation for women. Its purpose is to share the love and message of Christianity in a relevant way and they do this through four main mediums – their website, blog, regional events and print magazine. They are a non-profit organisation and are supported by the generous donations of a number of people and organisations. The amazing thing is that the founder, Ruth – only 24 years old, uses only the best talent from all creative industries to present the true message of love and grace to women in the 21st century. I was honoured to be asked to shoot behind the scenes at a recent shoot in Shoreditch.

What a day. Or what a very fortunate turn in weather for Katherine and James! The whole week leading up to their wedding was pretty dire – gray skies, wet and windy – until the clouds decided to part to reveal blue skies for the day. This made for a fun day of photos at a beautiful church and drinks on the beach. Together with their amazing posse of family and friends, each one with more than a funny story or two! Nice insight into the lives of these two.

Stephanie Cedeno is leaving London. This day was bitter sweet. A day of enjoying some fine food, drink, card games and sceney for a friend who was ticking it off her list before she left London for good.

Love is not really a feeling, its an action, a decision and a skill. Learning some fun lessons lately! –> Love cannot be learnt in isolation. You have to be around irritating, frustrating and annoying people. That’s what helps you develop in love towards other people. Then you begin to see you are the luckiest person in the world, as the people around you are hilariously funny and ridiculously silly with interesting quirks, and life is so much better with them!

No idea where 2012 went. Seriously. But it was my best year ever creatively! So thank you 2012 and everyone that I photographed.

The recent months have been so crazy, illustrating for Christmas wrapping and decoration has been amongst the happenings. Drawing = happy place.

There is nothing better than being part of a community that looks after its elderley. I was so happy to shoot this day for free, in exchange for stories and wisdom and lots of giggling.
